AI for government that you can explain and account for.

We work with ministries and public-sector bodies on AI that shows its sources, runs in a Dutch environment and gets used on the shop floor.

Government

What is at play in government

Government organisations sit on enormous collections of documents: policy, regulations, inspection reports, parliamentary papers. Knowledge is scattered and slow to find. At the same time every answer has to be traceable, sensitive information may not leave the organisation’s own environment, and choices have to be explainable to citizens, parliament and regulators. A general AI assistant does not meet that.

ISO 27001 certified

Working in a strict sector calls for demonstrable information security. Gradient is ISO 27001 certified.

Where it pinches

  • Knowledge scattered across sources

What has already been written down somewhere takes hours to find again. Making large document collections semantically searchable saves that work.

  • Every answer must be traceable

For government, an answer without a source is useless. Whoever decides must be able to check where it comes from, all the way to the source documents.

  • Sensitive data and sovereignty

Data often may not go to a public cloud outside Europe. The solution has to run where the organisation decides, with ownership over data and model.

What we do

All services
  1. 01

Transparent and maximally human in the loop

We build in transparency to the maximum: citations down to the exact passage, visible reasoning steps, and an agent chain that is fully inspectable and auditable. A member of staff decides, and every outcome can be checked before anything is done with it.

  2. 02

    Running in a Dutch environment

We build sovereignly: application, data and model run within the organisation’s own environment or in a Dutch cloud, on open-source technology. Gradient is ISO 27001 certified.

  3. 03

    Building with the delivery teams

We work together with the people on the shop floor and their innovation labs, so that AI fits the real work and does not get stuck in a report.
